<---- This is one of my favorite pictures of me and my cat, Ollie.
Yep, I'm a cat lady. Give me the badge, I'll wear it. Ollie and I live in a house built in 1928. I call it My Lil Money Pit. At one time, the home was owned by friends of Thomas Wolfe, the famous North Carolina writer of Look Homeward, Angel. It is quite possible he visited the house back in the day. That's about the only thing he and I have in common. I'm a seat-of-the-pants writer. I began writing fiction in 2008, years after working as a traditional journalist. I didn't know what the hell I was doing in fiction, but I had an idea that turned into a book that turned into a series that turned into poems that turned into novellas. Today, I work full time as an editor for a nonprofit organization that supports a national park. In my spare time, I write fiction. I have left my social media accounts behind (except for a professional page on LinkedIn), so don't go looking for memes by me anymore. I have two unpublished manuscripts in a drawer and a current novella in draft. My hope is to keep writing until I hit the literary lottery. My favorite writers are Nicholson Baker, Glen Duncan, and Meg Wolitzer, among others. Wolizter's book The Wife inpsired my first novel, published in 2014. I'm fascinated by recluses, including Emily Dickinson, who became reclusive in her later years. Someday, I'll explore the topic more in a novel. |
Keep reading books, mine or anyone's, whatever you do. The world needs more readers.
Musketeer SeriesMy fantasizing about Athos led to The Musketeer Series. I must say, there's sex.
